[Men's Basketball] Williams named CCAC Player of the Week

CHICAGO — A career day has earned St. Ambrose University's Michael Williams (Addison, Ill.) Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending Jan. 31, the league office announced on Tuesday.Williams delivered a personal-best 32 points in a tight 93-92 league win over Lincoln College on the road Saturday. The 6-5 senior forward converted 11 of his 15 shots from the field with nearly half of those attempts coming from long range, where he went 5-for-7. He also went 5-for-6 at the free throw line and provided three rebounds and two assists, as well.Three days earlier, Williams delivered 14 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 69-46 decision over Cardinal Stritch University.For the two games combined, he averaged 23.0 points per contest on a strong 66.7 percent shooting mark from the field (16-of-24).The two wins kept St. Ambrose in the thick of the conference race, improving to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in league play.
