[Men's Basketball] Kazanecki named to second team, Mason on all-freshman team

all-CCAC Men's Basketball TeamAfter an injury forced him to miss all but five games a year ago, Tom Kazanecki made his final season one to remember. The 6-6 forward/center was named to the all-CCAC second team after averaging team highs of 18.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest. He scored in double figures in 28 of the Bees' 29 games. That included a career-high 30-point explosion at nationally-ranked Olivet Nazarene on Jan. 12. He upped his numbers in CCAC play, averaging 18.6 points and 9.4 rebounds over 22 conference games.Kazanecki, from Palos Heights, Ill., posted 10 double-doubles, and grabbed a career-best 14 boards in two different contests. He shot 50.6 percent from the floor, including a 34.0 percent mark from 3-point range.He ended his St. Ambrose career with 1,049 points, good for 49th on the program's all-time scoring list. He also pulled down 504 career rebounds.Grant Mason was a second Bee recognized by the CCAC, getting named to the league's five-player all-freshman team.Mason, a 6-2 forward from Chicago, Ill., appeared in all 29 games and made 11 starts. He averaged 8.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.Mason scored in double figures in 11 games, and had a season-best 20 points in a win over Iowa Wesleyan on Feb. 10. He scored in double digits in four of the team's final six games.
