[Men's Basketball] Redhawks Win Home Opener Against SAGU

The Redhawks men's basketball team picked up another win this season by defeating the Warriors of SAGU-AIC, Saturday evening, 92-70, in non-conference match-up inside the Coyote Center. The last time these two schools met, the Redhawks were dominant from the start and took the contest 94-75. This time around, the Warriors kept the game within reach in the first half only trailing by 7 points. The Redhawks came into the second half strong and outscored the Warriors, 51-36.Four Redhawks finished with double-digit points, including senior Maurice Walton, who scored 26 points and added a team-high eleven rebounds. It would be the third time that Walton has reached double digits in rebounds this season, and the second time hitting eleven rebounds against SAGU. Senior Jay Small added 18 points and three assists.  Junior Jalen Grijalva finished with 15 points and ten rebounds and five assists.  Junior guard Tre Carolina finished the contest with 13 points and eight assists.The Redhawks hit 36-of-66 field goals (54.5%), 7-of-22 three-pointers (31.8%), 13-of-22 free throws (59.1%), and outrebounded the Warriors, 57-26.  The Redhawks committed 17 turnovers and stole the ball 9 times.  SAGU made 24-of-81 shots (29.6%), 10-of-31 three-pointers (32.3%) and 13-of-20 free throws (65%) and committed 13 turnovers and stole the ball from the Redhawks six times.  NEXT GAME:  Coached by Frank Woodford, the Redhawks look to take on Regis University on Nov. 27 at 1:00 p.m. MST in Denver, Col.
