[Men's Basketball] Redhawks Find Stride In Win Over Pioneers

The Benedictine Mesa men's basketball program found their stride Sunday afternoon, with a statement road victory against the University of Antelope Valley, 85-70. The win puts the Redhawks at 6-5 in Cal Pac Conference play. The Redhawks were led by senior Stevie James, who finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Senior Tyler Fernstrom, senior Justin Parker, and junior Tre Carolina all finished with 15 points. Fernstrom was 5-8 from beyond the arc. Parker also provided 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Carolina snagged 9 rebounds and had 5 assists. Senior Bryce Cheney had 11 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. The Redhawks started off the game off on a 9-3 run and never looked back leading the entire 40 minutes. Benedictine Mesa shot 56.4% from the field, 50% from 3-point range, and outrebounded the Pioneers 36-32. The Redhawks had 19 assists on 31 field goals. The Redhawks will return to the hardwood next Monday, February 21 as they play the final regular season game at Embry-Riddle in Prescott, Ariz. The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30pm MST.
