[Men's Basketball] Redhawks Drop Road Contest Against La Sierra

Benedictine Mesa men's basketball suffered a road loss against La Sierra University Friday, 78-74. The loss puts the Redhawks at 5-5 in Cal Pac Conference play. Senior Maurice Walton led the way for the Redhawks with 23 points and 12 rebounds in 24 minutes. Walton was 6-6 from the field at the half and finished 10-12. Senior Jay Small finished with 15 points on 50% from beyond the arc. Senior Bryce Cheney finished with a double-double, 10 points and 13 rebounds. Cheney also had two blocks. Junior Tre Carolina finished with 10 points, 5 assists and 3 steals. The Redhawks shot 43.1% from the field, but only shot 23.5% from 3-point range. The Redhawks outrebounded the Eagles 46-39 and had 12 assists on 28 made field goals. The Redhawks were 14-17 from the free throw line. The Redhawks will be back in action on Sunday when they play at the University of Antelope Valley. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 4pm MST.
