[Men's Basketball] Kerr and Williams combine for 43 points in road victory

John Kerr scored 22 points and Michael Williams added 21 as St. Ambrose moved to 7-3 in the CCAC with an 81-72 win at Indiana Northwest Saturday afternoon.After leading by as many as 15 points at 55-40 on a Kerr 3-pointer five minutes into the second half, the Bees watched the Redhawks score 11 in a row to get to within four points. Nursing a 72-67 lead in the final four minutes, SAU got a big 3-pointer from Ben Schols to open up a 75-67 advantage. Indiana Northwest (4-7, 1-3 CCAC) scored to get back within six but jumpers from Dylan Kaczmarek and Kerr restored a double-digit lead at 79-69 with just over two minutes left. Schols iced the win with a jumper inside the final minute before the Redhawks hit a late 3-pointer to account for the final score.The Bees shot nearly 53 percent from the floor and knocked down 11-of-22 from beyond the arc to offset 20 turnovers. The SAU defense also limited IU Northwest to just 41.3 percent shooting.Kerr finished 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range for his 22 points. Williams was 7-of-13 overall and hit 6-of-7 free throws to score 21. Williams also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, one more than Kerr's seven boards.Schols dropped in 12 points and Jake Friel came off the bench to add 10. Jake Conerty scored six points and Kaczmarek chipped in with five points, four boards and five assists.St. Ambrose, now 12-5 overall, will honor its seniors on Senior Night when the Bees host Roosevelt Wednesday night. It will be the final regular-season home game for SAU.
