[Men's Basketball] Kern Snags KCAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week honor

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University freshman center Connor Kern has earned his first career KCAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week nod, the conference office announced today (Feb. 14).Kern made a big impact defensively in the Falcons' two victories this past week.A native of Prosper, Texas, Kern averaged 5.5 defensive rebounds per game, two blocks and 0.5 steals.Kern leads the Falcons and is tied for sixth in the KCAC with one block per game this season and has been a critical factor in the team's current season-high three-game winning streak."Connor has come such a long way in a very short period of time," said Friends men's basketball head coach Austin McBeth. "People don't see how much work he puts in behind the scenes. He's such a difference maker when he's on the floor. This probably won't be the last time he earns this award!"Kern and the Falcons will next be at the University of Saint Mary Wednesday night (Feb. 16) at 8 pm in Leavenworth, Kan.  The Falcons' three-game winning streak has the squad up to the eighth spot in the league and in position to host a KCAC tournament opening round game on Feb. 22 inside the Garvey Center.
