[Men's Basketball] Kater to be honored at halftime of Saturday's men's basketball game

WICHITA, Kan. – This past summer, the Friends University home basketball court was renamed Jack Kater Court.  On Saturday night, the hall of fame inductee and legendary men's basketball coach will be recognized in a halftime ceremony of the Falcons' regular season finale vs. Kansas Wesleyan University. "Coach Kater was a critical part of multiple championships and won a lot of games during his time at Friends University," said Dr. Rob Ramseyer, Friends University Associate Vice President of Athletics."However, his impact off the court was just as important.  He left a significant impact on Friends University and all the student-athletes he coached, taught, and interacted with."Kater guided the Falcon men's basketball program to four KCAC championships while also coaching the men's golf team to three consecutive league titles.In addition to his basketball and golf coaching prowess, Kater was also at the helm of track, football and softball.On the administration side, Kater served as Athletic Director and Teacher and was known to have a great relationship with his students.Tip-off of Saturday's tilt with KWU is set for 7 pm inside the Garvey Center.
