[Men's Basketball] Hines Erupts for 27 as #11 Drovers Win Rivalry Game Against MACU

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the No. 11 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (8-2, 3-1 SAC) added another impressive win to their resumé with a 77-68 performance against Mid-America Christian University (7-5, 0-4 SAC). With the win, the Drovers have emerged victorious in each of the last four meetings of the intense rivalry. Neither team had a great night on the offensive end of the court, but that didn't impede the game from living up to the hype. The Evangels scored the first bucket of the contest, but that would be the only lead they would enjoy for the remainder of the game. The Drovers led by as many as 11 in the opening half, but MACU was able to keep the score throughout the entire game. Science & Arts owned a 34-28 after 20 minutes of action.After halftime, the Drovers continued to maintain their lead and held off the Evangels attack, outscoring MACU 43-40 in the second half. At the conclusion of regulation, the Drovers held advantages in nearly every statistical category. Science & Arts shot 22-57 (.386) from the field and 6-21 (.286) from 3-point range, while MACU went 25-68 (.368) from the field and 9-37 (.243) from deep. A major key to success for the Drovers was their efficiency at the free-throw line, knocking down 27 of their 36 attempts at the charity stripe. Additionally, Science & Arts won the rebounding battle 51-44.Cameron Hines (SR/Ft. Cobb, OK) delivered a sensational performance, recording 27 points on 7-12 shooting from the field, including 4-6 from beyond the arc. Hines was a perfect 9-9 at the free-throw line, and he also tallied four rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. Gerard Makuntae (SR/Austell, GA) showed his supreme toughness as he concluded the win with 15 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Rory Pantophlet (JR/Philipsburg, Sint Maarten) was a force in the paint, contributing 12 points and six rebounds. Pantophlet went 2-5 from the field, and an impressive 8-12 from the free-throw line. Stephon Hall (SR/Oklahoma City, OK) added 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Silas Elliott (JR/Oklahoma City, OK) scored five points and grabbed a rebound, while Jaden Harrell (FR/Oklahoma City, OK) finished with five points, five assists, and a trio of rebounds. Tre'veon Ellis (SR/Oklahoma City, OK) closed with three points and four rebounds. WHAT'S NEXT?The Drovers will return to action on Saturday, December 11 as they host Texas A&M University-Texarkana. The Drovers and Eagles will tip-off at 4:00 PM CT inside Drover Fieldhouse.
