[Men's Basketball] Hastings wins 82-65 over Men's Basketball Falcons

Hastings, Neb. – The Hastings College Broncos used a surge in the second half to take control and went on to an 82-65 win over the Friends University Falcons tonight (Oct. 30) in Hastings, Neb.The Falcons started the game on an upswing, scoring the first five points and then taking a 20-11 lead on a layup by Jordan Gary (FR/Decatur, Ga. ) at the 11:42 mark of the opening half.Hastings roared back and grabbed their first lead of the game on the strength of a 21-6 run that made it 32-26 with 3:53 left in the half.The Broncos carried a 37-31 edge into the break.With the deficit at 41-33, it was the Falcons turn to make a run back as five points from Ian Konek (JR/Long Beach, Calif.) and a pair of layups by Josh Osborn (FR/Wichita, Kan. ) anchored 11 straight overall for Friends that resulted in a 44-41 advantage with 15:47 left.But the see-saw battle continued with the Broncos getting threes from TJ Babikir and Dashawn Walker to grab a lead they wouldn't relinquish the rest of the way.The Falcons continued to battle and trailed only 52-50 when consecutive baskets by Walker ignited a 12-2 spurt that put Hastings in control.Hastings maintained command, as the closest the Falcons could climb from that point was eight on a Davonte Pack (SR/Sumter, SC) jumper with 1:29 remaining.The Broncos then scored the final nine points of the game to put the finishing touches on the win.Trey Reid (FR/Wichita, Kan. ) led the Falcons with a team-high 15 points, with Konek adding 14 and a career-high tying eight rebounds. Pack finished with 12 points and Gary pulled down seven boards.Walker led all scorers with 30 points for the Broncos and also recorded eight rebounds. Babikir scored 18 and Karson Gansebom chipped in with 12.Friends was outrebounded 38-34 overall, but held a 10-9 edge on the offensive glass.Next up for the Falcons is their home opener Tuesday night (Nov. 2) against Barclay College at the Quaker Classic.
