[Men's Basketball] Graceland holds off Men's Basketball Falcons in second half

WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons came back from a large early hole, but the Graceland University Yellowjackets staved off the rally and won 77-63 in non-conference action today (Nov. 13) inside the Garvey Center.The Falcons missed their first nine shots and committed eight turnovers in that span as the Yellowjackets built a commanding early lead of 30-2.A three by Trey Reid (FR/Wichita, Kan. ) got the Falcons off the snide and another trey from Drew Patterson (FR/Charlotte, NC) cut the deficit to 32-10.With the Yellowjacket lead still at 22 late in the first half, a ferocious dunk by Darryon Frierson (FR/Wichita, Kan. ) and a layup by Reid ahead of the buzzer brought the Falcons within 42-24 at the break.  After the Yellowjackets outscored the Falcons 16-8 during the opening five minutes of the second half to build the lead back to 26, Friends began to chip away.Davonte Pack (SR/Sumter, SC) fueled a 20-3 surge by putting in 11 points and Ian Konek (JR/Long Beach, Calif.) converted a three-point play to bring the deficit down to single-digits for the first time since the 15:41 mark of the first half.  But consecutive threes by Clarence Wilson stemmed the tide and the Yellowjackets kept the Falcons at bay the remainder of the game.Konek led the Falcons with 17 points and six rebounds, with Reid and Pack each scoring 15. Pack also had a team-high four assists for Friends.Carson Newsome led five Yellowjackets in double-figure scoring with a game-high 20 points. Seth Compas scored 13 along with a game-high eight boards, with Amir Pettiford and Khyle Washington each recording four assists for Graceland.The Falcons will next open up KCAC action at home vs. Avila University on Wednesday night (Nov. 17) at 8 pm inside the Garvey Center.
