[Men's Basketball] #13 USAO Eclipses Century Mark in Victory Against Dallas Christian
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the No. 13 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (2-1, 0-0 SAC) hosted their home-opener in stellar fashion, coming away with a 103-82 triumph against Dallas Christian College (1-4, 0-0 NCCAA). The Drovers led from start to finish and possessed a 48-42 lead at halftime. USAO continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring DCC by a margin of 55-40 over the final 20 minutes of regulation.Both teams shot the ball well in the non-conference contest, the Drovers going 36-75 (.480) from the field, and 9-30 (.300) from three-point range. In comparison, the Crusaders shot 30-60 (.500) from the field, and 4-14 (.286) from deep. USAO held a 49-36 advantage in the rebounding battle, and the Drovers committed just nine turnovers, while DCC fumbled the ball 15 times.Six different Drovers scored in double figures, highlighted by Samkelo Cele (SR/Durban, South Africa)'s 23 points, along with eight rebounds.Gerard Makuntae (SR/Austell, GA) and Langston Gaither (SR/Alexander, VA) each recorded double-doubles. Makuntae delivered a perfect performance, going 6-6 from the field and 4-4 from the free-throw line to close with 16 points, in addition to 13 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Gaither contributed 17 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. Cade Allen (SO/Hammon, OK) and Logan Dolan (SO/Broken Arrow, OK) each provided big sparks off the bench. Allen scored 13 points, followed by Dolan with 10. Jaden Harrell (SO/Oklahoma City, OK) tallied 11 points, six assists, and a pair of steals. Tyler Cauley (SO/Riverview, FL) added six points and a couple of steals.Cejay Mann (SO/Alma, AR), Dallen Forsythe (SO/Dale, OK), and Jeremiah Paredes-Clark (Oklahoma City, OK) scored two points each.
