Griffins Surrender AEC Prize in Duel with Knights

Aston, Pa. – (2/2/2022) – Gwynedd Mercy University (10-8, 2-4) scored the first three points of tonight's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest, 3-0 (17:49), but gradually fell behind Neumann University (12-6, 4-1) in an eventual 28-19 (0:00) halftime spread. The Knights kept their distance in the second half, allowing the margin to slip to single digits at times (19:10, 13:43, 13:16, 12:02, 5:05) before finishing off the Griffins by a 61-45 (0:39) final. Senior guard Ty Jones (Harlem, N.Y.) led Gwynedd Mercy University with 11 points, seven rebounds, and a pair of steals. Graduate guard Matt O'Connor (Philadelphia, Pa.) supported with 12 points and an assist.
