Zion Cousin Named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week

Charlotte, NC — Fayetteville State's Zion Cousins grabbed a total of 26 rebounds, including 16 on the defensive boards, and 12 blocked shots over two games last week to be named the CIAA Food Lion's Defensive Player of the Week. The 6-9 forward posted a season-high 16 rebounds and a CIAA-best eight blocks in a conference win over Virginia State. Offensively, the Washington, DC native also posted 12 total points on the week as the Broncos finished with a 2-0 record. Cousins is currently the conference leader in total blocks with 31 and 2.4 blocks per game and sixth at 7.9 rebounds per contest.
