Van Syckle Named Landmark Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

SELINSGROVE, PA – Jack Van Syckle earned his first career Landmark Athlete of the Week Honors after averaging 18 points per game and shooting 81% from the field. The senior center also averaged seven rebounds a game and totaled three blocks, as Susquehanna defeated Moravian and Catholic over the week of January 24-30.

Van Syckle started his week with a career day, posting new career highs with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and field goal makes with 15 in just 18 tries. The double-double was the first of the senior big man's Susquehanna University career, as he came in averaging 2.8 points per game over the season. Before the contest versus Moravian, Van Syckle had posted 31 points and 15 field goal makes all year, but his 15 field goal makes on Wednesday were the most in a game by a River Hawk since November 15, 2016 when Steven Weidlich connected on 18 made buckets in a 120-116 loss to Misericordia University. Van Syckle also became SU's ninth person to lead the team in scoring in a game in 2021-22.
