Red Dragons top Blue Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. — The Fredonia State men's basketball team fell to Cortland, 70-55, on Friday. Malik Jemison scored 16 points, and Elian Dominguez added 12 points and led the Devils with six rebounds.

The Devils kept it tight through most of the first half, trailing by just five, 29-24, after a jumper by Aiden Proudfoot. Cortland closed the half on an 11-2 run. This put the Red Dragons up 40-26.

They would maintain a double-digit lead until Fredonia State's Naejon Ward scored on a fast break to pull the Devils within nine, 52-43, with 12:44 left to play. 

Later in the half, Keenan Roberts Jr. hit a short jumper to make it a 60-55 game with just over six minutes left to play. Cortland scored the next 10 points while the Devils did not muster a basket the balance of the game.

Cortland (6-8 / 3-4 SUNYAC) was paced by 21 points by Kendall Arcuri and Jaylen Warmack added 14.

The Devils (5-8 / 2-4 SUNYAC) return to Dods Hall on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip off vs. Oswego.
