Racers Fall To Saint Peter’s In NCAA 2nd Round

The seventh-seeded Murray State men's basketball team saw its season come to a close Saturday night with a 70-60 loss to the No. 15 seed Saint Peter's in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Racers struggled to find their offensive groove in the game, shooting just 34.6-percent from the floor, compared to 41.5-percent by the Peacocks. Saint Peter's also scored 15 points off 12 Racer turnovers, while the Racers only scored four points off 10 Peacock giveaways. Murray State also struggled from the free throw line in the game, going 16-for-25, while the Peacocks excelled by going 23-for-31.

Four Racers scored in double digits in the game, led by 19 from Justice Hill. Tevin Brown followed with 14, while KJ Williams had 12 and Trae Hannibal added 10. Hannibal also led MSU on the boards with eight, while Brown and Jordan Skipper-Brown chipped in five.

The Racers end their final season in the OVC by going 31-3 and winning both the league's regular-season and tournament championship. The loss put an end to the nation's longest winning streak at 21 games.
