MEN'S BASKETBALL'S MANNING JR., CHANDLER AND FRANKLIN NAMED TO SUN BELT ALL-CONFERENCE

NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama's Jay Jay Chandler, Charles Manning Jr. and Javon Franklin were voted to the all-Sun Belt Men's Basketball teams, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Chandler and Manning Jr. were both named to the second team. Chandler finished the regular season seventh in the Sun Belt in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game and was named Sun Belt Player of the Week for his efforts in two games against Troy earlier this year. He scored over 1,000 points in his NCAA career earlier in a win over Troy at home. The 6-foot-4 guard scored a career-high 26 points at Troy, a career-best eight assists at Coastal Carolina and scored at least 10 points in 24 consecutive contests earlier this season. The Katy, Texas native scored 20 or more points in 10 contests.
 
Manning Jr. is fourth in the Sun Belt in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game and was named Sun Belt Player of the Week and the Las Vegas Classic MVP for his efforts at the Las Vegas Classic. He has scored 20 points or more 10 times and has scored in double-figures 20 times this season. The 6-foot-4 guard also led South in assists and steals and finished second on the team in blocks. Manning Jr. set a career-high with 26 points at UTA, while setting new career-highs with six assists against Troy and six blocks against Tarleton.
 
Franklin was named to the third team. Franklin posted 11.2 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-9 forward led the team in rebounds, offensive rebounds, blocks and was fourth on the team in steals. He ended the season with six double-doubles, good for third in the Sun Belt. Franklin finished the regular season 125-for-191 (65.4 percent) from the floor. The Little Rock, Ark. native posted a career-best 22 points on a perfect 10-for-10 shooting against Southern Miss earlier this season.
