[Men's Basketball] No. 8 Mustangs' Mid-Game Run Downs MBB

Doane Men's Basketball took on their second ranked opponent in as many games as they hosted No. 8 Morningside on Wednesday evening in the Haddix Center. The Mustangs were able to rebounds from a quick start by the Tigers and post a 96-73 win over the home squad.Doane built a six point lead in the opening seven minutes of play, 19-13, as Jaxon Harre (SR/Omaha, Neb.) scored seven points early on to pace the Tigers. The Mustangs would respond with a 24-2 run over the next eight minutes to take the lead and put forth a margin that Doane was unable to overcome.The Tigers were able to cut the deficit to 12 points in the second half but a 9-0 run pushed the lead to 20-plus. For the game, Morningside shot 47.8-percent from the floor, utilizing 18 offensive rebounds. They made 7-of-20 from behind the arc and 23-of-27 at the free throw line. Doane shot 41.2-percent for the game, hitting 11-of-35 from 3-point range and 6-of-11 at the free throw line.Harre led the Tigers with 17 points and six rebounds. Joe Burt (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) added 12 points and Anthony Laravie (SR/Omaha, Neb.) finished with 10. Zach Witters (SR/Lenexa, Kan.) dished out a team-high four assists. Alec Oberhauser (JR/Parkersburg, Iowa) matched Harre with six rebounds to lead the team.Morningside received 22 points and 11 rebounds from Trey Brown and 12 points and 10 rebounds from Zach Imig. Aidan Vanderloo and Trey Powers added 12 points apiece as well for the Mustangs.Doane returns to action on Saturday, January 9, in Sioux City, Iowa, as they take on Briar Cliff at 4 PM.
