[Men's Basketball] Men's Basketball Erases Deficit, Tops Midland

Doane Men's Basketball picked up just their second win in the last eight meetings against Midland on Saturday afternoon but it was a memorable victory as the Tigers erased a 17-point deficit to earn an 82-80 win. The victory was also important as Doane makes a push for the postseason heading into February.The Warriors were hot in the first half, shooting 66-percent from the floor and making 8-of-11 from behind the arc. The largest lead was hit at the four-minute mark in the half with Midland leading by 15 at the break, 47-32.If possible, Doane was even hotter in the second half as they made 77-percent of their shots (17-of-22) and made 8-of-13 from behind the arc. An 8-0 inside the three-minute mark in the game put the Tigers in front for good. Brady Timm (FR/Yutan, Neb.) hit two free throws which was followed by a 3-point basket from Joe Burt (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) to take the lead and a 3-point bucket from Alec Oberhauser (SR/Parkersburg, Iowa) to extend the advantage.Midland had one last chance in the final 10 seconds but came up empty on two shot attempts, including a put-back attempt just before time expired.Leading the charge for the Tigers was Josiah Gardiner (SO/Milford, Neb.) as he scored 28 points on 12-of-14 shooting. He pulled in nine rebounds and dished out six assists, both marks also team highs. Timm added 17 points while Anthony Laravie (SR/Omaha, Neb.) finished with 15 points. Burt finished with 12 points and Oberhauser collected 10 points as all five starters were in double-figures while accounting for all of the team's 82 points.Midland received 25 points from Ryan Larsen and 23 points from Laurence Merritt.Next up for the Tigers will be a trip to Hastings to take on the Broncos on February 2 at 7:45 PM.
