[Men's Basketball] Men's Basketball Drops Road Battle

The men's basketball team traveled to Yankton, S.D., for a midweek contest on Wednesday evening against Mount Marty. After the Tigers rallied in the first half, the Lancers stormed out in the second half on their way to a 92-74 win over Doane. The Tigers fell to 5-9 on the year and 2-7 in the GPAC.With the score tied at 8-all four minutes into the game, the Lancers used a 16-4 run to go in front by 12 points at the midway point of the half. However, with the roles reversed from the first meeting, it was Doane who ended the first half on a big run as the Tigers outscored Mount Marty, 22-7, and led 34-31 at the break.The second half opened with the Lancers getting to the free throw line on their possession. After a made free throw, the second one was missed with the Lancers picking up the offensive rebound. After a couple of passes, Mount Marty knocked down one of their 16 3-point baskets on the night to take the lead and they never looked back.For the game, Doane shot 51-percent from the floor and 41-percent behind the arc (11-of-27). Despite the offensive shooting success, the Tigers committed 19 turnovers. The Lancers shot 49-percent from the floor in the game, including 68-percent (15-of-22) in the second half. Mount Marty also shot nearly twice as many free throws in the game, including 29 attempts in the second half.Joe Burt (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) led the Tigers with 22 points, hitting four 3-point baskets. Jaxon Harre (SR/Omaha, Neb.) added 19 points. Burt, Harre, and Max Masin (JR/Ponca, Neb.) pulled in five rebounds apiece to lead the team. Anthony Laravie (SR/Omaha, Neb.) posted a team-best four assists with Harre leading the team with two steals.Mount Marty had six players finish in double-figures, led by Jailen Billings and Chad Moran with 14 points apiece. Elijah Pappas posted a team-high six rebounds and four assists.Next up for the Tigers will be a Thursday match-up with the University of Nebraska. Tip-off is set for 6 PM in Lincoln. The game is a countable game for the Huskers but will serve as an exhibition game for Doane.
