[Men's Basketball] EVANS WINS POTY AS SIX PILOTS RECEIVE RRAC AWARDS

The Red River Athletic Assocation has released their All-Conference Awards for 2021 and six LSUS Pilots have received honors for this season. Kadavion Evans leads the group as the conference's Player of the Year. Leondre Washington picks up Newcomer of the Year and Head Coach Kyle Blankenship won Coach of the Year. Evans and Washington were first team selections while Jeff Boyd was selected to the second team. Kelvin Henry was an Honorable Mention and Brennan Maddox was the Pilots selection for the Champions of Character team.VIEW THE RRAC WEBSITE RELEASE HEREPLAYER OF THE YEAR – KADAVION EVANSKD brings home the conference's top award after another sensational season for the Shreveport product. Evans, a RRAC First Team All-Conference selection, finished the season with a 20.5 points per game average while leading the conference with 56 assists on the season. He pulled down nearly seven rebounds per game and added an incredible 30 steals on the season. He was second in the conference in scoring (20.5 points per game), first in assists (4.7 per game), and fifth in rebounding (6.7 per game).  NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR – LEONDRE WASHINGTONLeondre Washington, a RRAC First Team All-Conference selection, stepped right in this season and immediately became a catalyst for this Pilots offense. He finished the season with a team-high 21.7 points per game while knocking down 28 threes on the season and shooting 38% from three-point range. He was a 45.5% shooter overall and added 20 steals on the season.COACH OF THE YEAR – KYLE BLANKENSHIPKyle continues to add to his amazing career as the Pilots head coach. Under his leadership, Shreveport wins the RRAC regular season title while finishing ranked #3 in the final NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll. He led the Pilots to a new school record 25 straight wins and once again the Pilots go a full season without losing at home. LSUS has now won 35 straight at The Dock. That figure stretches over 2.5 years of games. SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE – JEFF BOYDJeff was the Pilots most pivotal piece in 2021 as he did a bit of everything to help LSUS. He continually locked down the opposing teams best player while being a factor for the Pilots on the offensive end. Jeff finished tied with Washington for the team lead in threes. Jeff knocked down 28-65 threes which is good for 43%. He pulled down 7.2 rebounds per game and led the team in blocks with 25 on the season.HONORABLE MENTION – KELVIN HENRYKelvin remains the unsung hero for the Pilots. He does everything soundly and is always there to pick his teammates up when the game gets tight. Henry finished the season barely below double-digits with 9.9 points per game. Kelvin made 18 threes and pulled down just under five rebounds per game. He was second on the team with 43 assists on the season.CHAMPION OF CHARACTER – BRENNAN MADDOXMaddox is the epitome of great character. Always there for his teammates on and off of the court and continually helping others and doing it with a smile. Not only is Brennan incredible off the court but his game really blossomed in 2021. He averaged 11.4 points per game on an incredibly 55% from the field. He led the Pilots in rebounding with 101 boards on the season and 7.8 rpg.
