[Men's Basketball] Cunitz Leads V-Hawks to Victory with Career Night

By Katie Frohmader and Lauryn Sobasky, Athletics Communications Interns MADISON, S.D. – The Viterbo University Men's Basketball team (8-6) traveled to Dakota State University on Friday night to face the Trojans (6-11) in a North Star Athletic Association matchup. Robert Cunitz (JR/Kendall, Wis.) had a career night with 31 points, carrying the V-Hawks to a 77-72 victory.After being down by two at the half, 31-33, a Nicholas Malovrh (JR/Marshfield, Wis.) three gave the V-Hawks their first lead of the game. The rest of the second half was a back-and-forth battle until Jack Monis (SO/Oconomowoc, Wis.) hit a jumper with 2:29 left in the game to put Viterbo ahead for good. Dakota State attempted fouls to regain possession, but solid free-throw shooting by Brady Polk (JR/Berlin, Wis.) sealed the deal.Cunitz led all players with his career-high 31 points. Monis contributed 13 points and four rebounds, while Malovhr added nine points and four rebounds. Viterbo shot 47.5% from the field, along with 33% from behind the arc.The V-Hawks will return home on Friday to face Valley City State University (14-4). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
