[Men's Basketball] Briar Cliff's Hot Shooting Downs MBB

A cold shooting first half was too much to overcome as the Doane Men's Basketball team dropped an 81-65 decision to Briar Cliff on Saturday at home. The loss dropped the Tigers to 5-10 overall and 2-8 in the GPAC while the Chargers moved to 6-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play.Briar Cliff hit 53-percent of their attempts in the opening 20 minutes, including 8-of-18 from behind the arc, while Doane was held to 29-percent in the half and 4-of-16 from 3-point range. The shooting difference gave the Chargers a 44-20 lead at the break.Doane shot better in the second half, hitting on 40-percent of their attempts, but each time the Tigers looked ready to make a run, the Chargers were able to counter with a basket as they made 48-percent of their attempts for the half.Anthony Laravie (SR/Omaha, Neb.) finished with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-20 shooting. Jaxon Harre (SR/Omaha, Neb.) added 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Zach Witters (SR/Lenexa, Kan.) led the team with three assists and two steals.BCU received 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists from Quinten Vasa. Conner Groves added 14 points, starting out the game 4-of-4 from behind the arc.Doane will have two weeks off before returning to the court as they take on Dakota Wesleyan to open the 2021 slate on January 2 at home. Tip-off is set for 4 PM.
