[Men's Basketball] Barons Recognized in SSAC Conference Awards

The Brewton-Parker Barons Basketball team has been recognized for its performance this season with one second team all-conference award, one champion of character award, and a team-wide sportsmanship award.Benjamin Ross (JR/Atlanta, GA) was recognized as a second team all-conference player and John Allen (SO/Marietta, GA) was awarded the Champions of Character title. When asked about the successes, Coach Birchfield said:"I am very excited for Ben Ross to receive this honor. Ben is a man of God and I'm glad to see somebody who represents our school so perfectly can also be recognized for his basketball talents. Ben was a leader for us this year leading us in both points per game and assists. He was our anchor on offense""John is a hard-working, high-character young man, who just happens to also be a great basketball player. It says a lot about the direction this program is heading in that our starting PG is receiving this award""This award is a reflection of the high-character men that make up this program. It was a rough year for us in the win category so the fact that we handled ourselves in such a way that we receive this award says a lot about the direction we are heading. We are committed to the process, and the process  starts with character. I know two things about this award; the first being that this team is deserving of this honor, and the second is that the officials I yelled at all season definitely didn't have the vote!"Congratulations Barons!
