[Men's Basketball] Barons defeated in tough match up against William Carey

Mount Vernon, GA  — Our Barons lost to William Carey 78-57 in Friday night's game. The game was fairly close in the beginning but Carey eventually pulled away in the second half.  Only two players finished in double digits in the game, Nic Pullum finished with 15 points and John Allen (SO/Marietta, GA) finished with 10 points. The Barons also struggled to gather momentum from the free throw line on the night. After the first game, Coach Birchfield said " We played a good first half against William Carey. They are one of the most talented teams in the SSAC and you can't beat a team like that only playing one half of basketball.  Our guys are getting better every single night and tonight was no exception.  We will be winning these kinds of games soon enough. I love this team."In Saturday's game, Our Barons forced an overtime period, but still fell short. They lost 74-72. Our Barons shot the ball 85.7% from the free throw line. John Allen and Jack Gray (JR/Powder Springs, GA) both finished with 20 points. Benjamin Ross (JR/Atlanta, GA) contributed 15 points along with 10 rebounds and Nic Pullum added 10 points in this close game. Our Barons fought until the end of the game, an amazing effort to try and win the gameThe next game is Tuesday January 26,2021 at Middle Georgia.
