[Men's Basketball] #1 SEED PILOTS ADVANCE TO RRAC TITLE GAME WITH WIN OVER JARVIS

The top-seed LSUS Pilots men's basketball team took down Jarvis Christian 97-78 in the RRAC Tournament Semifinal game today in Alexandria. The Pilots were powered by a 30-point performance from RRAC Newcomer of the Year Leondre Washington. The Pilots record moves to 15-1 on the season. They will get a showdown with TAMU-Texarkana tomorrow in the RRAC Tournament Championship at 5:30 PM. FIRST HALFThe Bulldogs of Jarvis would hang with the Pilots in the opening half as LSUS lead was just 41-35 going to the halftime break. LSUS shot 14-34 in the opening half while holding the Bulldogs down to just 13-42. Each team turned the ball over four times in the opening half of a competitive game. Leondre Washington was cooking in the first half as he helped carry the Pilots to their halftime advantage. SECOND HALFWashington continued his offensive onslaught in the second half as he ran up 30 total points. He finished 9-16 in the game with seven of those being made three-pointers. He hit seven of the 11 threes that he attempted in the game. Along with Washington's sharp shooting from outside, Akeem White took care of business on the low block as he picked up 15 points on seven of 15 from the field. Jeff Boyd again was a solid producer for the Pilots as his 13-point, 12-rebound double-double helped the Pilots pull away for the 97-78 win. Nate Levine was the other Pilot to score in double figures with 12 points. PLAYER OF THE GAMELeondre Washington – Washington was on fire from downtown pouring in a season-high for any Pilot as he hit seven threes. He finished with 30 points, two rebounds and three steals, He was nearly perfect at the line as he hit five of six free throws.
