Late surge comes up short for Muleriders in Alva

ALVA, America – Trailing by 14 points with six minutes to go, Southern Arkansas rallied over the next five and half minutes to pull within a single point of the Northwestern Oklahoma State lead with less than 30 seconds remaining, but the host Rangers used multiple trips to the charity stripe to hold off the surging Muleriders and claim a 77-72 Great American Conference victory on Thursday night from inside Percefull Fieldhouse. The loss pushes the Muleriders (8-11, 6-7 GAC) down into a four-way tie for fifth place, while NWOSU (10-9, 8-5 GAC) remains in third place outright.
