IN THE NEWS | Panther Valley’s Szczecina plays key role as video coordinator for PSU basketball

When Penn State men's basketball coach Mike Rhoades wants to watch video of his team's next opponent, he calls Jake Szczecina.

When Rhoades' assistant coaches are putting together the daily practice schedule, breaking down that next opponent or need video footage to work on a player's shot, they call Jake
Szczecina.

That funny video of Penn State players trying to pronounce Schuylkill County, Tamaqua, McAdoo, Mahanoy City and Upper Mahantongo that was on Facebook and shown at Saturday's
Schuylkill County Day at the Bryce Jordan Center?

Yep, Jake Szczecina.

Who is Jake Szczecina?

Szczecina is the Nittany Lions' video coordinator, or as he puts it, "The director of all things technology for our staff. … Really, anything that encompasses technology around here."

In reality, Szczecina is the behind-the-scenes guy every college sports program needs to make it successful in this digitally-driven world. His wide range of job duties includes an
abundance of video editing that's used in scouting reports, skill development, team building, recruiting, promotions and marketing.

A 27-year-old Panther Valley graduate, Szczecina (pronounced Staah – cheena) followed Rhoades to Penn State from VCU, where he served one year as a graduate assistant before
becoming the Rams' video coordinator last season.
