ESU Drops to No. 5 in D2CSC Atlantic Region, Receiving Votes in National Poll

EAST STROUDSBURG – Following a close win against Mercyhurst and its first loss of the season to Gannon, the Division II College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday that the East Stroudsburg University men's basketball team is ranked No. 5 in the D2CSC Atlantic Region and is receiving votes in the national poll.

After four consecutive wins on the road to start the season, the Warriors (5-1) earned a dramatic 65-64 win over Mercyhurst in its home opener on Fri., Dec. 1, following a pair of made free throws by Nasir Griffin with less than a second remaining. The luck didn't follow the Warriors into Saturday, suffering a 110-96 loss to Gannon (7-0) in a battle of undefeated teams at Koehler Fieldhouse. ESU previously ranked No. 2 in the D2CSC Atlantic Region Poll and No. 14 in the D2CSC National Poll.

Following the first weekend of PSAC crossover action, ESU is tied for second with Millersville, Shippensburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield with a 1-1 record in conference. Among the 18 PSAC programs, the Warriors rank third in scoring (83.3 ppg), ninth in scoring defense (76.3 ppg) and rank fifth in scoring margin (+5.8).
