ESU Downs Clarion, McAliley Becomes Fifth Warrior to score 1,000th Career Points as a Junior

CLARION, Pa. – After being held to three points in the first half, East Stroudsburg University men's basketball forward Lakeem McAliley recorded 20 points in the second half, picking up his 1,000th career point in the process in an 84-77 win over Clarion on Monday afternoon at Tippin Gymnasium.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 6-1, 2-1 in PSAC play. The Golden Eagles fall to 4-5 after its second consecutive loss.

McAliley becomes just the fifth Warrior to reach 1,000 career points during his junior season, joining Warrior legends Jonathan Roberts, Whis Grant, Don Bones and Rasheed Moore. The Philadelphia native becomes the 34th overall member of ESU's 1,000-point club. He now ranks 32nd in scoring all-time at ESU with 1,019 career points, surpassing Channon Easley (1,016) and Chris Bach (1,005).

Notables

Along with McAliley's season and game-high 23 points (8-11 FG, 7-9 FT), the redshirt junior added seven rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal. His 23 points are the most by a Warrior this season. He shot 7-9 from the floor in the second half and 6-7 from the stripe.
