Eagles Suffer First Loss Of Season

Jackson, Miss. – The Eagles got the final offensive possession of the game but came up empty as Centenary College posted a 69-66 win Sunday at the Millsaps College Tournament. It was the Eagles first loss of the season. It was a tight game throughout, with neither team able to establish a large lead. Centenary led 34-29 at halftime. The Eagles fought back in the second half and eventually trailed 66-64 with about one minute to play. Kamren Roelke hit a tough shot to even the score 66-66. Centenary would then hit one of two free throws to take a one point lead. The Eagles couldn’t convert on its next possession and Centenary was awarded a pair of free throws on their next possession. On the Eagles next possession, Dillon Cheater launched a three-pointer but was called for flopping and a technical foul ensued. Centenary again hit just one of two free throws to allow the Eagles a chance to tie. Trailing 69-66, the Eagles three-pointer with one second left rimmed out. Grayson Nix led the Eagles with 18 points.
