Eagles nip Devils

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — A David Jordan three pointer with just over a minute left brought the Fredonia State men's basketball team to within three points, but Brockport would hang on for a 77-73 victory on Tuesday. Jordan finished with 18 points to pace the Devils. Malik Jemison had 11 points and three steals, and Derek Reed had six assists.

The Devils held the lead for the first part of the first half. They opened up an 18-13 edge that included four threes from four different players. 

An ensuing 11-0 run gave Brockport the lead for good. They would build a 34-29 lead at the half.

Brockport would establish its biggest lead of the game, 70-52, with 6:21 left to play. From there, the Devils would outscore them 21-6 ending with Jordan's three, making it a 76-73 game. Jordan would score nine points over that run. They could not convert another basket in the final minute, and Brockport added one more free throw at the end.

Tony Arnold led Brockport (9-5 / 5-3 SUNYAC) with 23 points and Zach RIce had 16.

The Devils made nine threes compared to Brockport's five. The two teams combined for 43 fouls, with Fredonia State connecting on 12-18 attempts from the line, and Brockport hitting 16-28. Brockport had a 40-35 rebounding edge.

The Devils (5-8 / 2-4 SUNYAC) return home this weekend with games against Cortland and Oswego on Friday and Saturday.
