Saint Leo Faces Florida Southern

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team hits the road Wednesday as the Lions travel to Lakeland, Fla. to face Florida Southern for a midweek Sunshine State Conference contest.

Saint Leo (12-5, 4-3 SSC) is fresh off a perfect week of SSC play, defeating (then) second-place Tampa 77-71 before following up Saturday with a 100-89 win over Lynn.  Guard Kanon Koster had an exceptional week, averaging 63% from the floor and 54% from long range. Against Tampa, Koster matched his career high with 31 points before posting 25 points against the Fighting Knights that included a 4-for-6 performance from beyond the perimeter.

Florida Southern (10-4, 4-3 SSC) will be hungrier than ever to show out for its fans in the Sea of Red, following road losses to Nova Southeastern and Embry-Riddle last week.  The Mocs are 8-1 at home, averaging nearly 92 points a game in Lakeland.  While FSC boasts one of the best scoring offenses in the conference, the team's defense has allowed opponents to average 82.6 points on the season, the second-most in the Sunshine State Conference.  The Mocs have been strong from the charity stripe, shooting the SSC's highest free-throw percentage (.795).

Jadin Booth (18.5 points) and E.J. Dambreville (18 points) lead Florida Southern in scoring, boasting top 10 marks in the conference.  Dambreville additionally leads the Mocs in rebounds with 8.4 a game, the fourth most in the conference.  Booth has been lethal from long range, averaging 40.6% on the season.
