ATHENS – SECOND STOP ON GREECE TOUR
ATHENS, Greece (July 26, 2024) — Athens – birthplace of democracy, the legendary home of Greek mythology, a place mentioned in the Bible. An iconic location to say the least, and it's also the place where the Texas Woman's basketball team spent the last three days.
The Pioneers left Nafplio on Thursday, July 25 and took the two hour bus ride back to the city of Athens. Along the way, they stopped at the Corinth Canal – an artificial canal made in 1893 that connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea to the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. After the short break at the beautiful Corinth Canal, the Pioneers arrived in Athens and visited Monastiraki Square – an area near the City Center of Athens, which is home to ,any restaurants, shops and several historical landmarks like the ruins of Hadrian's Library.
