Saint Leo Set to Face Tall Task with Sharks

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men's basketball team travels to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Saturday, as the Lions will face #2/#2 Nova Southeastern in Sunshine State Conference play.

The Green & Gold (13-5, 5-3 SSC) have a tall task ahead, as Saint Leo will face the nation's top offense in Nova Southeastern (15-0, 8-0 SSC).  In the team's last outing, the Lions had a tremendous dress rehearsal Wednesday, shutting down a Florida Southern shooting team to limit the Mocs to 9.5% long range and limiting the group to the fewest points scored this season.

The Sharks enter Saturday's game averaging over 107 points a game, shooting 53.1% from the floor.

Part of NSU's high-scoring system comes from the play of RJ Sunahara, who ranks sixth the nation in field percentage (65.6%).  Sunahara also leads the Sunshine State Conference in scoring with nearly 23 points a contest.  The Sharks also look to Will Yoakum to carry the scoring load, averaging 17 points and 64.3% from the field.

Nova Southeastern's defense is as equally lethal, forcing nearly 25 turnovers a game thanks to a prolific group that boasts three of the Top 50 stealers in the nation in Yoakum (1.93), Dallas Graziani (2.4), and Kobe Rodgers (2.53).

The Lions will look to break a nine-game drought against the Sharks, as NSU leads the overall series 18-12 over Saint Leo.

Tipoff at Rick Case Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.  Fans can follow the live action by accessing the links below:
